We have featured here, our first Canadian replica tiara ever. The history of this tiara is quite interesting. Owned by Montreal socialite Lady Marguerite Allan, and commissioned by her husband Sir Hugh, the tiara was designed by Cartier. Coincidentally, Lady Marguerite Allan and her tiara were aboard the Lusitania when it was torpedoed by a U-boat in 1915. Fortunately, she and the tiara survived, albeit Lady Allan was severely injured when a lifeboat fell on her.
These key design pieces included Greek key platinum and gold setting, with circular-cut diamonds, bordered by top and bottom pearls.
The tiara has been said to be one of the most remarkable examples of wartime Canadian art. In October 2015, the original tiara was auctioned at Sotheby's for over a million dollars.
