The Russian Pearl Pendant Kokoshnik

$129.99

Introducing one of our favourite new replica tiaras, The Russian Pearl Pendant Kokoshnik. The original tiara was made in 1841 by Bolin. It was comprised of 144 diamonds and 25 fine pearls. The owner, Marie Feodorovna (wife of Tsar Alexander III) loved this tiara and became a favourite of hers. Although it was commissioned for Empress Alexandra Feodorovna (wife of Nicholas I) and belonged to the crown jewels, Marie Feodorovna kept it at her home. By 1917, the Bolshevik Revolution began in Russia, the Dowager Empress (as Marie Feodorovna was by then) fled to Crimea on a ship sent by her nephew King George V. She left this tiara behind among other treasures and the original was never found to this day. Many years later, in 1987, a replica of the tiara was made for the Diamond Fund.
